Meet Terry: ClearCut’s Software Developer

Terry Lippincott is a Software Developer at ClearCut. While he’s incredibly focused on data and programming during work, Terry is also a guitar player and photographer in his spare time! We’re so fortunate to have Terry on the ClearCut team and to interview him for our employee spotlight. Learn more about Terry through the below Q&A.

Could you provide an overview of what you do at ClearCut?

I am responsible for maintaining our internal Cronus application as well as our external ClearCut portal application. This involves handling both maintenance requests, such as a reported bug in the application, and also any feature enhancement requests. I do everything from creating tables and queries in the database to writing the code which displays the page on your computer screen and fills in all the information.

How has ClearCut allowed you to work toward your professional goals?

ClearCut has allowed me to learn new programming languages and a wide variety of different technologies. I love to learn new things and there has always been a lot of encouragement on the Development team to try new techniques and to come up with better ways of doing things. There is always a sense of “let’s just try it.”

What is your proudest moment at ClearCut?

I’m extremely lucky because my job allows me to relive my proudest moment over and over. I get the best feeling whenever someone tells me their job is a little easier because of something I created. Just knowing that your work has helped someone is a wonderful feeling.”

What do you enjoy most about ClearCut’s culture?

I really enjoy the openness and friendliness. Whenever there is an issue or something that needs to get done, there always seems to be several people willing to help out, even though it may have nothing to do with what they are currently working on. The willingness of everyone to joke and laugh throughout the day also makes the work environment that much more enjoyable. The ability to laugh and enjoy yourself, even during stressful times, is a huge part of enjoying your job.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife, attempting to play the guitar, working out, and photography. My wife and I are relocating soon and hopefully, I will be learning how to surf.

What are 3 things you’d choose to have with you on a deserted island?

My wife, our dog Sparty and a glass filled with the perfect margarita, that surprisingly never gets empty!

What’s your favorite quote?

“Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible.” — Cadet Maxim, U.S. Military Academy, West Point
